Cherry Blossom Wedding at River Farm Alexandria

Planning a DC Cherry Blossom Wedding

Rebecca and Philip’s Cherry Blossom wedding took place on April 8th, 2017 at River FarmAlexandria The two knew this day was meant to be, and their love story shows just how confident they were that they were soul mates. Rebecca has a commendable history with the United States Air Force serving our country as a Lieutenant Colonel. Having duty stations in Europe and across the U.S.,she finally landed in Washington D.C. where she would meet her future husband. Philip was also career driven, working his way to the top of one of D.C’s best law firms.

Both living in the Nation’s Capitol, they managed to find each other via a Catholic dating site, and immediately knew they could stop looking. They were so sure they had found the one that within six months of their first date they were engaged!

Rebecca and Phillip jumped right in to the planning process, meeting me almost immediately after their engagement. They booked their date right away, and secured two gorgeous locations: St. Mary Catholic Church for the ceremony and River Farm for the reception.

How to Plan A DC Cherry Blossom Wedding

We worked together to make sure that everything about this day reflected the couple. They both had elements they wanted for their special day, to make it unique to them. Rebecca wanted to  to fuse together her love of all things healthy, organic and fresh with Philip’s Filipino culture. The two also wanted to take advantage of Cherry Blossom season in Washington D.C.

Since anyone planning a wedding knows that is impossible for everything to always happen according to plan, Mother Nature decided to deliver a bout of unseasonably warm weather in March . This warm weather cause the Cherry Blossoms to bloom a little to early, and then following a cold snap killed many blossoms before they were able to reach their peak. Not to be deterred, I knew we had to come up with a way to make sure the couple was able to have their Cherry Blossom centerpieces.

Working closely with an extremely skilled florist in Arlington, VA, we knew we would do whatever it took for have Rebecca and Philip’s dream come true. We were able to secure the cherry branches and coax the blooms out using blow dryers – proof that you can do anything with a little will power (and a whole lot of fuse blowing!). The incredible team of vendor partners helped pull together all aspects of Rebecca and Philip’s special day, and it was beautiful perfect day to be a part of.
